zuckerwatte quilt finish from Making A Lather

I have a finish -bonnie Hunter quilt zuckerwatte from her book string fling. It is a smaller quilt than I thought when I started it. It is about 58 x 70. I started working on this ufo in January at a retreat, I had started at the beginning of January with only string blocks made. I made the string blocks in June 2017. I cut a gazillion  HSTS - (half square triangles)... sewed a bunch together, and made  rows. and blocks. It is really pretty in person.

I used a plain pink sheet for the backing that I had in my ...

seeing stars from Making A Lather

This is as far as I have gotten to a finish with this Bonnie Hunter quilt ufo, that, I started before she printed the pattern. I didn't like her version (xing) from string frenzy, so it was time to decide how to finish it. I have a vintage red fabric, I want for the borders.

I have bonnie Hunter quilt zuckerwatte from her book string fling. on the frame to quilt. So I may have a finish next week.

June one monthly goal from Making A Lather

I didn't finish my goal for last month. I had hoped to get aunt Elizas star to the top stage. I did get half of the top together. I think I will still get the top finished before I put it away again.

For June, I want to switch the ufo project to a purple ufo for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I want to finish the bonnie Hunter quilt zuckerwatte from her book string fling. I made the top during the pink month. And I will use this month to quilt it and get it bound ...

zucherwatte quilt top from Making A Lather

I was excited to find a favorite border fabric already in my stash. It is such a favorite that, I immediately made plans to replace the fabric. haha will I ever have less fabric?. I guess I have a thing for polka dots and just this color of pink.

I found a large pink sheet that I will use for the back. And, now I can add one more quilt to the others waiting to be quilted. My list is growing.

zucherwatte retreat from Making A Lather

You may remember here, that I had cut 430  HSTS - ( half square triangles ) and sewn 240 together. At retreat last weekend, I sewed all of them into rows for bonnie Hunter quilt zucherwatte from her book string fling.

rows 1 and 2

row 3 added

I see I will need to tweak some of the points as I go along.
I was even able to start adding the string HSTS to either side of the rows to make the blocks.

and the block
I am wishing there was a more even 1/4 inch margin on the ...

zuckerwatte in progress from Making A Lather

I have sew enjoyed the pink inspiration with the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. Looking at the design walls all filled with pink, makes me happy. I don't have a design wall or even a design floor, but, I sure have pink scraps. I am doing rsc a little different this year, by concentrating on ufos by color. I miss sewing the blocks, and watching them grow, though.

It was time to dig around in my pink 2 1/2 inch drawer for the rainbow scrap challenge. The drawer was overflowing. I knew that I would need 2 ...

jamestown landing finish from Making A Lather

I have a finish for my one monthly goal and PHD 2020.

jamestown landing is a Bonnie Hunter pattern from her book string fling. It finished at 85 x 96 and used about 25 yards of scraps. I used a free motion swirl pattern on my longarm. I used my sewing machine to attach the binding.

I started this quilt in March 2013 in a class with Bonnie Hunter at the heritage quilt show in Bloomington Indiana. I put it on the top 2020 list of quilts I wanted to finish. And, I made it my goal for July to ...

Jamestown landing rows from Making A Lather

I have made progress on Jamestown landing - a Bonnie Hunter pattern. I am sewing this top together as part of my one monthly goal and PHD2020.  I took a class in Bloomington with Bonnie Hunter in March 2013. And, it has been in the block stage since then. I worked on it after I got home, and then it stalled.
I do not like string piecing. I prefer crumb piecing, so, I made the decision to switch the string blocks with my crumb blocks. I am not sure if I will be sorry, yet. I really like revisiting some of ...
